ifilm exclusive interview with Iranian-French actress

ifilm has conducted an exclusive interview with French actress of Iranian descent Gloria Hardy.

ifilm has snagged an exclusive interview with French actress of Iranian descent Gloria Hardy who appeared in Iran series ‘Kimia’.

Gloria Hardy is a biracial actress who was born to a French father and an Iranian mother. The successful Iranian period series ‘Kimia’ directed by Javad Afshar featured Hardy in some episodes and this turned her to a household name in Iran. The actress made acting debut with ‘Kimia’ playing her part in the French language.

While the prospect of such experience might have seemed iffy at first, great casting of the series and talent of the actress made Hardy’s appearance in ‘Kimia’ a huge success.

The young fresh actress is married to Iranian actor Saed Soheili who helped her rehearse lines for the role of Raha via phone.

Below is a rough translation of selected parts from her interview with ifilm in Persian.

ifilm: Tell us more about your experience appearing in an Iranian series.

Hardy: I feel so happy to get to know Iranians through this series. After reading the screenplay for ‘Kimia’ I felt that Raha character was so close to me and resembles me in real life.

ifilm: Did you find difficulties reading the script as it was written in Persian?

Hardy: Speaking Persian is hard for me, particularity when you compare Persian with French in terms of the letters used in written forms of both languages. The screenplay of the series was way too long, but Mr. Afshari gave me a recap of the whole story. Then, I decided to play the role of Raha. Even my husband sometimes would give some explanations of my role over the phone.

I'd never thought people in Iran would love my acting this much. They encouraged me so much. My family in France also got carried away when they found out I starred in such high quality series as ‘Kimia’.

ifilm: What is your next step in acting?

Hardy: Up to this moment, I have had no special acting offer, but I'll accept a new project for sure if Iranian people would love to see me on screen.
